SISTER Wives’ Kody Brown has revealed some more of the devastation and pain he’s suffered since being left by three of his wives.
The 54-year-old’s plural family started to come apart in November 2021 when Christine Brown, 51, divorced him.
About a year later, another wife Janelle Brown, 54, also left Kody.
Soon after, his first wife Meri Brown, 52, also left, leaving Kody only with his fourth wife Robyn, 45.
In an interview with People, he revealed: “I’m struggling to see what the future holds, maybe because I just haven’t let go enough of the past.”
The Sister Wives star said he was left with “a lot of heartbreak” because he lost the life he was creating with his ex-wives.
He said it “felt like everybody else was unhappy because I felt like I was lodging all the complaints, that it just made me cynical.
“I loved [our situation]. It just seemed like not everybody else did.”
Kody continued: “I didn’t want to be the guy that has this family that I struggle with until I’m dead. Then they all get along just great after I’m gone.
“I don’t understand why we can’t transcend this now. It broke my heart that we couldn’t transcend our differences. It’s part of life.
“I loved the life we have, and I hope I love the life that I’ll get.”
The TLC star went so far as to call his life “a Shakespearean love story that’s a tragedy.”
He went on to say: “I remember this great life that we had and what an experience to be a team with these 22 people and just trying to survive the rapids of life and it was great.
“There’s my optimism. It’s back. I’m seeing my past again and saying, ‘It was lovely.’ It’s changed now.”
“Maybe I’ll find that optimism for the future. In the end, hopefully, we just love each other and let each other move on,” Kody added.
LET IT OUT
Kody has snapped at a fan after they asked about his breakups in a recent episode of Sister Wives Talk Back.
In one clip, Kody was seen holding onto a tablet while reading a fan’s comment aloud.
“I think it’s awesome that you guys found each other and just want to be together. I think you should own it and just say that!” a fan named Jeff wrote to the couple.
Kody clapped back: “Well Jeff, I think you’re a victim of 20 hours of our life versus 365 days.”
He could barely finish his sentence before Robyn jumped in, covering his mouth with both hands so that he would stop talking.
“You stop, he was being nice,” she said to her husband.
As Robyn continued to look frustrated with Kody’s response, he added: “Listen, we didn’t want our family to break up. Isn’t that obvious?”
Robyn defended the fan and said: “You’re right, but, he’s not trying to be rude.”
Kody continued: “Jeff, you’re reading too many tabloids. We didn’t want this breakup, I didn’t want this breakup.”
OPENING UP
This week, Christine opened up about her private life with her ex-husband in a new podcast.
She spoke to Heather McDonald on the Juicy Scoop podcast.
She revealed that she’d shared a “fateful conversation about intimacy” with Kody before the couple separated.
Christine recalled: “He’s like, ‘We’re not going to have an intimate marriage anymore. We’re not going to have sex,'” according to US Magazine.
Heather asked how frequently they’d been having sex before the conversation, and the reality TV star admitted: “It was, like, five times in one year.”
Christine added: “There’s sex and then there’s intimacy. What we didn’t have was intimacy. The intimacy itself had been gone for years.”
In the interview, Christine revealed the exact moment she decided to divorce Kody.
She said: “The final thing for me was Ysabel’s surgery. That was, like, done. That was like absolute, that was it,” referring to the 20-year-old daughter she shares with Kody.
In September 2020, the then-teenager underwent back surgery to correct her scoliosis, which required her to travel out of town for several weeks.
However, Kody refused to accompany Ysabel for the procedure due to the long time he had to spend away from the rest of his family.
About Ysabel’s reaction, Christine said: “Because he said to her, he goes, ‘I can’t leave my family for that long.’ And afterward, Ysabel goes, ‘I thought we were family. I thought he was my dad.’
“‘So he can’t be with us because he has to stay with his family? What does that mean? What am I?’ And she was like, ‘Really? What am I?'”
Christine concluded: “So I was like, ‘Oh, we’re done.’ I can’t be married to a guy who doesn’t respect us as his family and thinks of someone else as his family.”
